Dear host family, My name is Leslie. I live in a small village near Tours named Bléré. I'm 18 years old, and I've been living with my grandmother for 4 years. My parents are separated. My mom lives in Bayonne in the South of France, but we are very close.
Later I'd like to create my wedding planner business in the US.
As regards my studies, I started learning English when I was 10, Spanish when I was 14, in middle high school. I graduated from middle high school, In France it's called « Brevets des Collèges » when I was 15 years old. Hopefully I should graduate from my high school in about 3 months' time.
I think I can say that I am a good student even if I'm talkative in class ( I'm a girl ! ) but I'm hardworking and serious. I like learning new things ...
I'm not very good at maths but i'm very good at Spanish and English which is my favorite subject.
Upon returning from the US, I would like to get my Associate's Degree in Business / Management. The third year of this program is spent abroad to a gain work experience, and I have chosen the US. Finally, I would like to return to France to complete a Master's Degree, and then I would like to work in the US.
Going to the US as an au pair could be a wonderful opportunity to improve my English and at the same time to take care of children.
First, when I'm older I want to find the « charming prince » and to have my own big family. I'd like to have 4 kids !
And secondly I would like to discover your country, your culture...the American way of life ! I would like to share my culture with you, teach you and your children some French words.
I really want to be part of your family, to be like your kids « big sister « .
I've chosen the US because it's been one of my dreams since I was a child, and because I want to live there later.
I think it's the most beautiful country in the world and I love speaking English.
I have been to Spain and Portugal, as I'm of Portuguese origin I've spending all my summers there since I was 2 years old !
I love traveling so much !
My family and my friends are really important to me !
I like spending time with my cousins, they are all younger than me.
For example, with Eva who is 5 years old, we go to playgrounds, we cook together, we dress up and make up. We have a lot of fun !
With Melissa, aged 12, we do shopping and I help her 10-year-old sister, Sabrina, to do her homework.
My family support my decision to go to the States even if they are a bit afraid because I'll be far away from them.
They are happy for me because they know it's my dream ! Though I am very close to them, I am independent.
I don't have many friends but they are all really good friends. I know I can trust them and vice versa. I'm always here for them. When they're in trouble, I always do my best to help them.
Now about my hobbies and me, I just want you to know I'll be a bit shy at the beginning. It's normal because I will feel a bit lost , but after a couple of days everything will be all right.
I like going to the cinema and watching movies, playing video games, hanging out with friends. I also enjoy doing sports (swimming, running, basketball, dancing, gym ...), and playing the guitar even if I don't play very well.
I like listening to rock music (my favorite bands are Scorpion _ Muse _ Linkin park _ ACDC _ Paramore ..), but I don't listen just that.
I like listening to classical music and pop as well, I like reading books. The last one was Twilight.
I'm also fond of cooking for my friends and my family ( chocolate cake and apple pies are my speciality) and going shopping.
I'm a huge fan of American TV series like One Tree Hill, Mars Investigations, Cold Case, How I Met Your Mother ...
I love cats - they are my favorite animal - but also dogs ... except spiders, i'm afraid of them !
I am an open-minded, funny, mature, friendly, serious, responsible and trustworthy person, but I'm sensitive, affectionate too !
I like to try out new things and meet new people too !
I like having fun with my friends or with kids but I know the limits and I can assume responsibilities.
I have my driving licence.
I've decided to become an au pair because I think it's a good way to discover a new country, to better my English, to meet new people...and taking care of children, because I love them.
I find children funny and interesting. It's a real pleasure to play and spend time with them.
I started to take care of children when i was 14 in a family with 3 children, the elder boy was 9, the other boy was 6 and the little girl was around 2, my job was to feed them, do some activities with them and I had to put them to bed.
I took care of a young boy named Clarence who was 18 months when I started taking care of him but now his mother is pregnant so I take care of him less regularly. Like the previous family I feed him and play with him, I watched cartoons too and put him in bed !
Last summer I took care of 4 children when I was on holiday in the South of France for 2 months, the elder girl was 9, the twins were 7 ans the baby was 2 months old, i love « playing » with her she is so cute, she has big cheeks that I want to chew !
I used to cook and eat with them, I changed the little girl diapers ..
I am a responsible girl when it comes to taking care of children, feeding them, playing and putting them to bed. I help them to do their homework .
I can really relate to children, I love them and I think they love me back !
I also do a lot of baby-sitting in my family, for example with my little cousin Eva aged 5, I play with her, and we cook together, we watch cartoons ....
Finally you can be sure I'll love your children as if they were my own brother and sister.
I hope to find a friendly family and share moments with them. I'll do everything to be a good au pair.
